The source under assessment comprise of a compendium of letters, catalogued and published as “Li. Shastri Yagnapurushdasji”.119 Primarily written in Gujarati, these letters mostly deal with theological preaching, administrative and event reports exchanged between one place and another ranging from the period 1888 and 1951. Mostly, while these letters were sent and received through the post, sometimes telegraph was also used in times of urgency. In case of overseas letters, particularly East African countries of Tanzania and Uganda, Air Mail was used to exchange letters.120 By reading these letters, one can focus on many different historical, social and cultural tropes ranging from administrative histories to more cultural tropes like guru-shishya tradition, monastic orders, advent of organized religions, relationship between the state and religion, and several other such genres.
